BLAKENEY MARSHES

Wide open spaces and uninterrupted views of the natural and dynamic coastline make for an inspiring visit to Blakeney, at any time of the year.  It was bitterly cold when we visited and I definitely looked like the Michelin man as I was wearing so many layers but at least I was warm! Read More

A little bit of nostalgia

Vintage seems to be a real buzz word at the moment so here is a trip down memory lane at Sheringham Station, Norfolk.  I particularly love the bright orange sign saying ‘Virol – the food for health’ which apparently was a gooey brown malt extract. Read More

Steam Locomotive

Something for train enthusiasts……….  This steam locomotive ‘Pitchford Hall’ was built in 1929; a member of the GWR4900 Class.  Photo taken at Sheringham Station before it set off puffing along the tracks of the local ‘Poppy Line’.  The trains of the 4900 class were all named after Halls, one of them being a wedding venue we cover ‘Dumbleton Hall’. The English Riviera (better known as Torquay!)

Chris & I grabbed a few days away in Torquay, look at the weather, it was great!!  If it hadn’t been for the woolly jumpers, we could have easily been in the South of France.  Have Cannes or Nice got a Ferris Wheel? Probably not.  These are a few of our favourite photos showing the lovely harbour and seafront. Read More

Westonbirt Arboretum Photography

We’ve visited Westonbirt Arboretum many times in the last few weeks, capturing the autumn colours in photos.  As members and recommended wedding photographers for this venue, we go at all times of the year including the cold, bleak winter months, when there are hardly any visitors.  At this busy time of the year, every day looks so very different and with beautiful colours: golds, reds, purples and yellows. Not only do we like photographing leaves and trees, Chris loves photographing mushrooms and I don’t think you can beat a bit of colourful ‘leaf litter’!  After a nice long walk, there Read More

Callisto’s Wall Art

We’ve just taken delivery of our new wall art: a beautiful sunset over the ruins of Bagan in Burma and an imposing beach in Cornwall showing the rugged coastline.  Both photos capture a moment in time and bring back special memories for us. Read More

Purton Ship Graveyard

We spent a lovely day on location photographing the Purton Ship Graveyard.  The banks of the River Severn have historically suffered from tidal erosion.  Between 1909 and 1965 redundant and unwanted vessels were beached on the foreshore and allowed to fill with silt.  These formed a barrier and helped prevent the river eroding into the canal embankment.  Thanks to Trevor for taking the photo of us on location.  All this was thirsty work which of course meant a visit to a local village pub!   Read More

Burma – ‘The Golden Land’

Chris and I have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Burma.  Tourism is still in its infancy there and we wish to share this fascinating, beautiful country with you through some of our favourite photos.  Obviously we don’t want to bore you with pictures of us, but we did include one just for good measure.  I’ve tried to include a caption under each photo – enjoy!   Sunset over the huge Shwe Dagon Pagoda in Yangon: the colour of the gilded stupa turned a lovely shade of red in the sunset.  You cannot wear shoes or socks in Buddhist Read More

Gorisambard!

As all Bristolians will know, Bristol was home to 60 life-sized gorilla statues which were painted by local artists as part of Bristol Zoo’s 175th birthday celebrations.  This photo shows  our favourite gorilla, ‘Gorisambard’ on the Clifton Suspension Bridge.  Gorisambard was modelled on Isambard Kingdom Brunel and was the highest selling statue, going for £23,000, unfortunately not bought by us!  This public art trail was enjoyed by many visitors and £427,000 was raised for charity.
