It was lovely to be asked to photograph Katie & Matt’s Wedding especially as we are neighbours ..…. no pressure! Matt is a Royal Marine and it was great to see the majority of the groom’s party dressed in their ‘Blues’, they looked very smart, what if they upstaged the bride? No chance, Katie looked beautiful in her dress and had 7 bridesmaids including her niece Erin who was so much fun to photograph especially when she decided to take a bit of a rest on Katie’s train, it’s so tiring being a flower girl. Guests were transported by two green double decker buses which meant nobody could get lost enroute to the church, always a good idea if parking is difficult. After the ceremony, I gave Chris the task of leaning out of our car window to snap a shot of the Studebaker as it weaved its way along the country lanes to The Grange, great shot Chris, not too many road signs in the way either!
We always like to see new ideas and Katie & Matt had provided a Wedding Finger Print Tree. Guests were asked to dab their fingers into a little ink pot and apply their finger print to the tree, each print depicting a leaf for guests to sign their names beside. The speeches were emotionally charged, especially for Matt’s military buddies and they downed a glass of port in memory of their comrades with a salute to the queen. It was a great day, we felt privileged to be part of it.
