Kingscote Barn – Katie & Nathan’s Winter Wedding

Chris & I were very excited to be returning to Kingscote Barn for the umpteenth time, this time for the Winter Wedding of Katie & Nathan.

Kingscote Barn Wedding

I headed for Wills Cottage and Chris went to the Barn to photograph the groom’s party and guests arriving. I was greeted by Katie and her bridesmaids dressed in matching blue PJ’s, drinking champagne and the smell of bacon wafting down the drive. Toby, the resident farm dog and I had the same idea, ummmm bacon sarnies and although I was offered one, I declined and poor Toby was just left licking his lips, I love the photos of Rachel & Lauren trying to deactivate the smoke alarm by wafting it with a cushion whilst the bacon was cooking, this is what we mean by capturing a wedding as it unfolds (I think?) Heidi already had the hair and makeup well underway; I love working with Heidi and even Katie’s Mum remarked how well we work together which was lovely to hear. Katie wore a beautiful lace dress by Phoenix with a rose coloured belt by David Tutera completing the look. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed canapés and champagne on the terrace and after a few group photos, we whisked Katie & Nathan down the lane. Couples love this quiet time together, it gives them some quiet time to chat about the day and ‘escape’ from the guests.  Whilst Chris photographed the reception room, I stayed outside photographing a guest playing chase with the kids; it looked so much fun, shame I couldn’t join in.

There were two very memorable moments for me: one when Katie’s Dad saw her for the first time: he was so proud I thought he was going to burst and also when Katie was about to see Nathan before walking down the aisle and she looked skyward as if to say “here we go, months of planning are finally here, this is OUR day”.  I also love the photo of Katie’s Gran where she is looking at the lace on the veil. Click: a lovely family moment captured forever.

A few lovely words from Katie & Nathan “You made us both feel at ease from the word go and captured some great natural shots when we didn’t even realise that there was a camera pointing at us, which was exactly what we were hoping for.  Viewing our photos banished our honeymoon blues, they are beautiful and we will cherish some of the great moments you have captured forever.  Thank you!  Katie & Nathan”

If you love our style of photography and wish to see more of our work at Kingscote Barn or a different venue, please check out our website.  You might be asking the question “why should we invest in two photographers?”  If you wish to see the benefits of commissioning Chris and me to photograph your wedding, even when shooting the same scene, please have a look at our ‘Kingscote Barn – Two Photographers’ post.

Strawberry Fields kept everyone fed & watered (including us – many thanks!),  The Hijackers had the dance floor buzzing, Sorori Design provided the colourful, floral displays and Heidi Vince did the bridal hair & makeup.  Yummy cake by Sugar & Spice Cakes and Katie’s beautiful gown was from Grand Jour.  What a fabulous team of people.
