Do we still get excited about photographing weddings – yes we do! This was our first Caswell House Wedding and having spent a couple of really fun hours with Becky & Chris during their engagement shoot last Autumn, we anticipated a great day and we were not disappointed.
A large bridal suite meant plenty of space for Becky to get into her stunning Justin Alexander gown (remind me, Sue & Emma how many times did the underskirt get adjusted?). Becky’s parents were bursting with pride and the emotions on the faces of the bridesmaids as they saw her in her dress for the first time were a picture; she looked beautiful. I might be biased being a female photographer but I love bridal prep and getting those shots where I can capture the anticipation of the day ahead in just a small sequence of photos. Becky walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D, played by the very talented harpist, Tori Handley, waiting for her at the end was a slightly nervous Phil.
After the ceremony, family & friends enjoyed drinks and canapés in the gardens whilst a few more energetic guests had fun playing with the giant games. Forfeits for the losers of these games seemed to involve either consuming various concoctions of alcoholic drinks or doing press-ups: an interesting combination. The Giant Jenga blocks had been hand crafted by Phil and the guests were invited to write personalised messages on the individual blocks; what a great idea! One block was adorned with some very ‘interesting’ graffiti which I certainly can’t include in this blog; Alex you know which particular artwork I am referring to! Chris & I had so much fun with Becky & Phil around the beautiful gardens, the swing seat in amongst the lavender worked perfectly and gave the couple a chance to sit, relax and reflect on their day so far, the first chance they had had as Mr & Mrs to chat quietly together. We kept our distance, shooting from afar to give them that special time together.
The speeches were hilarious and the Bride’s Father, Julian had arranged for the couple’s very bouncy dog, Alfie to put in a guest appearance (more tissues please). David, the Best Man gave a very good speech and somehow, the jenga sporting the ‘special’ graffiti and a very embarrassed Alex, crept into it. In the evening, ‘The Kicks’ got the party started and it was a brilliant day, one Chris and I will remember for a very long time. Thank you for letting us be part of it, your family & friends were so welcoming and great fun to photograph!
And finally, a few lovely words from Becky & Phil “The whole experience with you both was incredible. From meeting you, the engagement shoot, the wedding and finally our beautiful album. You were both so professional, yet warm and fun to be around. We felt like you were such a big and happy part of our special and perfect day. Thank you for taking such fantastic pictures, we love them all. Lots of love, Becky & Phil”
