Rain, rain and more rain but nothing could dampen ours (or the guests’) spirits when it came to Joanna & Tom’s wedding at the Swan Hotel Bibury. Chris dropped me off in Cirencester to meet up with Joanna & her bridal party before heading off to The Swan to meet up with Tom and his groom’s party who were building lego in the bar when he arrived! Chris always seems to end up in the bar (see previous wedding blog): I’m starting to see a pattern emerging here. It was lovely for me to be working with Cornelius again, Double Dutch Hair & Makeup artist whom we can highly recommend. Joanna looked stunning; her Caroline Castigliano silk duchess satin fishtail wedding gown was complemented with pearl droplet earrings and a necklace which her Mother had worn for her very own wedding, many years ago. I also loved the original floaty, mint & white bridesmaids’ dresses. After the ceremony, guests gathered in the bar for Pimms and canapés and despite the heavy rain, they had a great time. In the evening, there was a break in the weather, the rain stopped and Joanna & Tom were more than happy to venture outside into the beautifully manicured gardens of the hotel. We also took the opportunity of whisking them down to Arlington Row, a beautiful Cotswold beauty spot of 17th Century weavers’ cottages and with only a few tourists milling around, we didn’t take long taking some beautiful couple photos.
We felt sorry for the Greek guests as they had left 35 degrees heat at home to attend this special occasion. Personally, I think the bride & groom should have booked us to photograph their wedding in Greece. However, I found out after the wedding that the Greek guests had heard about our unpredictable British weather and loved the beautiful Cotswold village of Bibury with it’s vibrant greens and lush vegetation, more rain please!
The Calla Lily bouquet was provided by The Broadway Florists and Contemporary Cake Designs provided a simple but very elegant, cake.
