Kingscote Barn Wedding – Outdoor Ceremony

We were really looking forward to Katy & Graeme’s Kingscote Barn Wedding and with gin blue skies and not a whisp of cloud to be seen, the couple had opted for an outdoor ceremony.

Katy & Graeme had booked us at the Kingscote Barn Open Day, no fussing, booked, done and dusted.  Over the year, I had corresponded with Katie and it is always lovely to be part of a couple’s special day and see all the personal touches come together.  This is what Chris and I love about being wedding photographers; we capture the whole day, the little bits, the big bits, the bits that the couple probably won’t even remember in years to come!

The ceremony took place on the terrace overlooking the beautiful Cotswold countryside and afterwards, guests enjoyed canapés and champagne served with a strawberry bobbing exuberantly in the bubbles. Even the strawberry was in-keeping with the red colour scheme; was this planned or a total coincidence? Katy & Graeme have to be one of the most relaxed couples we have ever photographed, walking hand in hand, swinging their arms as they walked down the lane, we snapped away. They were so wrapped up in each other’s company, chatting about their day so far, I don’t even think they knew we were there which to us, means we are doing a perfect job.

The groom’s speech was funny, I think the word that kept cropping up was ‘compromise’. Graeme had wanted a black and white colour scheme to represent his beloved Newcastle United but they compromised on red. Graeme had wanted the tables to be named after Newcastle footballing legends but they compromised on Theatrical Productions (are you getting the picture?).

What a cracking first dance: Andy Williams “Can’t take My Eyes Off You” from 1968 and all the guests were singing along to “I love you baby”. Can I hear you singing it as you read this?

Strawberry Fields kept everyone fed & watered (including us – many thanks!), Tony’s Toon’s provided ‘huge smiles’ with his amazing caricatures, The Moon Loungers had the dance floor buzzing & Coates Fireworks brought us ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ after darkness fell.  Aqua Wedding & Event Flowers provided the colourful, floral displays and Heidi Vince did the bridal  makeup.  What a fabulous team of people.
