Birtsmorton Court Wedding – Becky & Chris

Seaside themed wedding anyone? This is exactly what Becky & Chris had planned for their Birtsmorton Court Wedding although I don’t think they had planned on torrential downpours as part of the theme.  Birtsmorton Court is an amazing venue and one we cannot recommend highly enough; if you are looking for a picturesque, Medieval venue with a Moat, look no further!

Birtsmorton Court Wedding

Becky & her bridal party got ready in the very impressive bridal suite and as the rain hammered on the windows and the champagne flowed, guests were arriving at the church looking like drowned rats albeit in rather posh clothing!  The ceremony was delayed for 10 mins but with a break in the clouds, we all walked the short distance to the Parish Church.  After the ceremony the weather was on our side (at least for a while) and you cannot beat a drinks reception on a terrace overlooking a moat.  We love the set up at Birtsmorton Court: the drinks reception can be split between the moated garden and the rose garden which means guests are treated to two very different areas in which to enjoy their champagne.  Enroute to the rose garden, guests were delighted to be greeted by an ice cream van and unfortunately, the magic combination of Ice Cream & English Weather = Rain!!   And boy did it come down this time and by now most of the guests were in the rose garden so to the rescue came Sophie, tightly gripping a golf bag (yes a golf bag) loaded with white umbrellas to save the day.  The atmosphere was so much fun, nobody seemed to care about the rain except maybe that a few glasses of champagne were getting watered down.  To go along with their seaside theme, Chris had painted a ‘saucy seaside board’ so that guests could poke their heads through the holes and have their photos taken, great fun!

The best man’s speech was hilarious, relaying stories about his friendship with the Groom and asking the guests to join in a little ‘A or B’ quiz which was highly entertaining and great fun to photograph.  When it was dark, guests played with sparklers trying to spell their names out like they were kids again and with romantic candle lantern bags with the illuminated words ‘Just Married’, it was a lovely end to a beautiful day.

If you are celebrating your wedding at Birtsmorton Court, we’d love to hear from you.  Please take a look at our website to see more of our work.
