It was lovely to return to The Greenway Hotel Cheltenham this week. This hotel holds such happy memories for us as it was where Chris and I got married many years ago. I got quite emotional walking through the door of this 16th century Elizabethan Manor House. The grandfather clock was still ticking away in the hallway and I remember us having our photo taken beside the clock as it struck 12 noon, the time of our ceremony. It’s strange the things you remember: the oak panelled room where we said our vows, the bar inviting guests to have a drink, the log fires crackling away in the background and the gardens looking superb. The hotel has had a big refurbishment since our wedding day. The bridal suite looked amazing and I still smile when I think about how I set out all my makeup along the window ledge whilst enjoying the views in the garden and calming my nerves with a gin and tonic. After the ceremony, we were celebrating in the garden when a helicopter arrived and I thought Chris had arranged a surprise for me, no chance, it was just picking up a guest from the hotel. The food was amazing then and remains so today. Our wedding was a very relaxed, informal affair, quite small compared to a lot of the weddings we photograph these days. Great memories of a beautiful day spent with family & friends.
Sorry no photos of our wedding day, digital wasn’t around then 🙁 Phew, got away with that one.
